Jubaland Claims Raas Kambooni Conflict Is a Political Maneuver by Somali Leaders!
Kismaayo (bulacle.com) – The Jubaland Presidency has released a statement concerning the recent clashes in the Raas Kambooni area of Lower Juba, where Jubaland forces engaged with troops from the Somali Federal Government. Jubaland alleges that the conflict is part of a broader political scheme linked to their perceived political decline.
In the statement, Jubaland accuses Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of instigating the violence to forward personal agendas, using the National Army as a means to achieve his goals. They argue that the assault on Raas Kambooni is unjustified and poses significant security risks to the region.
The Jubaland government expressed sorrow over the fighting that erupted, leading to Somali forces turning against each other. “This is an avoidable incident,” they stated, advocating for a peaceful resolution instead of escalating tensions.
Jubaland alleges that President Hassan Sheikh and his associates dispatched military personnel to the area, responding to previously unaddressed security checkpoints, which they claim has undermined the legitimate operations of security forces. They also highlighted that Raas Kambooni has maintained peace for the past 13 years.
In their statement, Jubaland confirmed that the injured individuals have been transferred to Mogadishu for medical treatment. They also praised their troops, which consist of Somali youth, while reiterating their commitment to dialogue as a means to address ongoing conflicts.
Jubaland concluded by emphasizing that political disputes should be resolved without resorting to violence and expressed their openness to cultivating constructive dialogue.
